#nightshift

The weekend night shift at my hospital (at least for Rad) is 11pm-9:30am.  I think it's pretty terrible because by 7/730, I am so done (and by the time I'm home and in bed, it is after 10am, which means that the entire day is basically wasted).  As everyone else is leaving, we're still stuck here another couple hours.  You would think that they would find people who can come in before 10am, but alas, I guess it isn't the case.

Tonight has been fairly quiet.  I was afraid that when the shift members leaving when I got here said the dreaded "slow" word, that I was for sure, jinxed... but.... nope.  S L O W.  I'm unsure as to whether or not I prefer it being steady (because at least then I'm busy) or slow enough for me to do other things (in this case, work on last minute details for my daughter's upcoming Bat Mitzvah) but I guess I should just be thankful that it is almost 6:30 and at least then, another tech comes in to keep me company.

That can either go very well (if they are friendly and we get along) or poorly (if they're sullen and not personable).  Needless to say, there are both around here.  Aside from learning how to handle different types of patients, one thing that this job has given me is the ability to deal with a variety of different coworkers.  Especially after working the night shift, it is always a fun surprise to see who walks through the door...and as it is an early shift on a weekend morning, even the nicest of week day/daytime techs can arrive cranky, depending on their weekend.

Patience for my Patients?

Come along for the ride as I gain experience in both the clinical and psychological aspects of my job as an X-ray Tech.  I have patients.... that’s for sure... but do I have patience?
